Young India gives a call to observe the first day of the coming year, 01 January 2020, as a day to Defend the Constitution!

Since the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, the entire country has been fighting the divisive and communal law with stoic heroism and determination. Student-youth has been at the forefront of the movement against CAA to protect the secular-democratic fabric of our country. From Guwahati, Dibrugarh to West Bengal, Bihar, Delhi, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, every part of the country has been witness to massive student-youth led protests and mobilization. The youth of the country has braved State repression, with the most brutal being in Assam and Uttar Pradesh, both of which are run by the BJP.

Last year, around this time, student-youth movements, organisations and unions, who had been fighting the Modi-led BJP government during Modi 1.0 had come together to form the Young India National Coordination Committee (YINCC) to raise the pertinent questions of education and employment. At the present juncture, when the idea of India as a democratic and secular country is under attack, the student-youth organisations, unions and movements have reorganised to form Young India Against CAA-NRC-NPR to launch a scathing attack on the authoritarian Modi-Shah government. The platform was launched from a Press Conference in Delhi on the 24th of December, 2019. As of now, more than 100 student-youth organisations and unions across the country are a part of Young India. The movement against the CAA-NRC-NPR will only strengthen in the coming days.
